Jan and Guy’s Travels

Essentially a travelogue of our journeys around Europe and the UK in our motorhome and caravan.

In September 2009, we finally collected our passport to an exciting retirement. The Auto Trail Cheyenne proved to be all we had anticipated and we immediately felt comfortable. Though we had caravanned for many years, this was very much a new experience since we hoped it would provide a greater sense of freedom. There were, of course, teething problems as we found our way around. Following our first night on site, it was with some embarrassment that I realised we had left the grey water drain in the open position. The subsequent pool of water was rather difficult to disguise but we survived and now find it difficult to imagine how we could make such a basic error.

Since 2009 we have travelled extensively across Europe including Scandinavia whilst also enjoying touring within the UK.

In 2014, we decided to sell the motorhome and return to caravanning, purchasing a Lunar Quasar. We had thoroughly enjoyed the motorhome for five years but with Jan's reduced mobility following her new knee, we felt the caravan offered more opportunities for travel at both home and abroad.

Following re-adapting successfully to the caravan, we upgraded in 2017 to a Bailey Unicorn Vigo which usefully has an island bed and its own satellite dish

Around Europe and the UK

Since 2009, we have travelled fairly extensively across Europe. We are particularly fond of Italy where we have spent time on the Italian Lakes, Venice and the Veneto, Tuscany and Umbria. We have travelled across France and also visited the Netherlands, Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland and Scandinavia.

An important element of this site is an illustrated account of these journeys including information about the various sites we have stayed on.

The site also includes a list of some of our favourite sites at home and abroad which might be of interest to fellow travellers.
